Job Support Scheme: What An Employee Can Expect to Earn from November

From 1 November, the extended Job Support Scheme will be in place. This can provide support for employees in areas under both Tier 2 & Tier 3. Read the full details here.

Tier 2:

Employees at firms which can open but only have enough work for employees to return part-time can get government financial support. Staff have to be paid by their employer to work a minimum 20% of their hours per month. The employer must pay an extra 4% of total wages to cover some of the hours not worked, and the government will pay 49% of the total salary to cover hours not worked. So, overall the worker would get at least 73% of salary. The maximum contribution the government will make is £1,541.75.

Tier 3:

The government will also pay people who can’t go to work at all because their business is closed under ”very high” Tier Three coronavirus restrictions.

The government will pay 67% of wages – up to a maximum of £2,100 a month – for each employee. Staff must be off work for a minimum of seven days to be eligible, and their employer doesn’t have to pay towards their salary. Read the BBC article here
