New Business Waste Legislation.

The rules are changing from April 1 2025.

Please don't be misguided into thinking that you qualify for micro business rules as under 10 people work in your shop or office. It is not about how many people work in any one hereditament but how many people are employed by the business, including directors, shareholders, and silent partners.

The new rules state businesses will have to separate Food Waste (this is not just hospitality. It's every business where staff eat or have a cup of tea on the premises), Dry Mixed Recyclables, washed and cleaned (DMR) and General Waste.

Every business will need to evidence (Waste transfer Notices, WTNs) that they have the minimum three waste collection contracts required, Food, DMR and General waste.

First Mile and Biffa have seminars covering the new legislation. You can sign up for First Mile here and Biffa here.

The BID office will send out more information when we know how the legislation will be enforced.

Local residents are complaining about the piles of business waste, greeting visitors as they exit Ealing Broadway Station. Please be aware that any business leaving waste on the street between 8.30 -18.00 hrs Monday - Sunday is liable for a £400 fine.
