Rare screening of this classic film with Mascagni's complete original score framed with alternate music scores.
Rapsodia Satanica was the last film directed by Nino Oxilia and is undoubtedly one of the finest achievements of the early Italian silent films. In it, Oxilia spins a variation on the Faust myth based on poems by Fausto Maria Martini, embodied by the vampish diva Lyda Borelli, one of the era's favourite silent film actresses.
Pietro Mascagni wrote his only film music for the film and conducted the first performance in July 1917.
We offer attendees the chance to experience the hugely successful Headspace Project. Produced by UWL’s London College of Music (LCM) students, this immersive performance gives the audience headphones to listen to a range of musical work, from experimental soundscapes to commercial dance tracks.
This format subverts the traditional delivery of music through physical space by beaming the sound directly into the listener's ‘headspace’.
The Project was first exhibited in January 2019 and proved very popular. We are delighted to host its return performance.
The Thorne Trio, formed in 1999, are a highly acclaimed woodwind ensemble and Junior Fellows of the Royal College of Music. This outstanding wind group has won the Philharmonia Orchestra Scholarship Fund’s education and outreach awards, the Anglo-Czech-Slovak Music Competition, and were semi-finalists in Italy’s Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition.
The trio commissions works by British Composers and performs lesser known repertoire alongside music by popular composers from the Baroque period to the present day.
Enjoy a carousel of taster workshops and a whistle-stop tour of Pitzhanger Manor after hours.
