Harrow Steel is a charity based in North-West London that works with young people to develop self-confidence, self-esteem and musicianship skills through playing Steel Pans. We rehearse weekly and run holiday workshops.
Our band director and arranger is Dexter Joseph, his father Winston was born in Trinidad and was a founder of Ebony Steel Band. Dexter teaches steel pans on a number of Harrow Schools.
The Steel Band formed in 1986 when the London Borough of Harrow was given a grant to start multicultural music in school. We have performed in several prestigious venues in London including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican and the Queen Elizabeth Hall. We have toured in Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland and France.
