Anxiety can manifest in many different areas of our lives – we are currently battling an international anxiety epidemic, identified is the most common mental health issue along with depression. In personal as well as workplace and business settings, our busy schedules and fast-paced lives can create difficult situations, impacting our focus, productivity and ultimately our health.
Led by concert pianist and wellness coach Xenia Pestova Bennett together with senior yoga instructor, dancer and choreographer Eleonora Ramsby Herrera, this session brings together approaches to tackling generalised anxiety and performance anxiety. We will look at practical methods to help take stock and rebalance while starting to understand, accept and befriend anxiety.
During the workshop, we will revise and review the evolutionary biology and physiology of the anxiety mechanism. As well as incorporating breathing techniques, focus exercises and movement sequences using hatha yoga, qi gong and mindfulness/insight meditation. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and share experience, although speaking is optional.
You will learn how to activate their relaxation response and assemble a simple and individualised “anxiety toolkit” of interventions and exercises they can use in their daily routine.
