British Land are seeking a driven and experienced individual to fulfil the Community Manager role in Ealing Broadway. The individual will need to self-motivated, experienced in working with community organisations and able to start by April at the latest, but ideally ASAP. We’re seeking to fill this role on a consultant basis or secondment from a community organisation (ideally Ealing based) to be based within the Ealing Broadway team.

Role Description
Title – Community Manager
Location – Ealing Broadway; expected on site at least 60% of the time pro-rata
Department – Ealing Broadway Management team
Role type – Consultant or Secondment considered
Hours – Part-time – ideally 3 days/week; minimum 2.5 days depending on experience
Reporting to – Estate Director

The Role
British Land is seeking to enhance Ealing Broadway’s offer and bring new uses including workspace to the area through an active planning programme.
The team is now seeking a highly personable, driven individual to take on an exciting and autonomous role within the Ealing Broadway Team. The Community Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Ealing Broadway Centre is embedded in the local community and delivers tangible social impact, in ways which matter to the local community and reflect the opportunities the centre can offer – both now and in future. To do this, the role will be responsible for executing and evolving a diverse place-based community programme, identifying and progressing partnerships and projects, connecting occupiers and retailers with the wider community and acting as a key face of Ealing in the local area. The role will also provide input and strategic advice into the planning community engagement strategy and consultants and may provide direction and support to planning focused community initiatives.
In doing so, the role will play a key role in growing Ealing Broadway into an industry leading example of PlaceBased social contribution in both asset management and planning
The role will be part of the Centre Management team at Ealing Broadway and will contribute and influence the processes and methods of working within the team and service partners. The successful integration and delivery of the Ealing Broadway brand and ethos to our customers is core to the overall operation.
The role will also have strategic guidance and support from the British Land Community Team, who lead on defining and guiding the business on implementing the 2030 Social Sustainability Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Execute and develop an impactful, place-based community programme for Ealing Broadway in line with British Land’s Local Charter and supporting site and occupier priorities:
– Manage delivery and evaluation of existing community investment programmes and events
– Establish and implement future strategy, partnerships and projects including community investment
– Build, manage and maintaining local relationships and strategic partnerships
– Establish mechanisms for leveraging and reporting internal team and supply chain contribution
– Integrate into ‘business as usual’
– Establishing community meanwhile uses and coordinating with relevant team members
Coordinate community-facing activities including events, exhibitions and projects. Manage staff volunteering initiatives.
Monitor, review and report on the site community strategy and activity
Promote the use and reputation of Ealing Broadway as an inclusive, diverse, mixed use campus and to showcase the site to work in and visit.
Connect occupiers and retailers with the wider community and local initiatives.
Support local recruitment into roles across Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre. Develop and manage occupier and supply chain community networks and champions.
Be a key face of Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre in the local community:
– Represent the site to key local community stakeholder groups such as local schools, community groups, businesses.
– Be an ambassador and champion for the community internally.
Support design and planning activity in connection with Ealing Broadway; provide direction to consultant teams to deliver exemplar community engagement and leverage social value opportunities throughout the process, including but not limited to
– Inputting into the consultation and engagement strategy and process including leading on specific community focused elements
– Supporting consultant teams in understanding the local community and embedding this into the consultation, planning and design process
– Establishing and implementing an approach to leveraging social value from consultant team (e.g. Via a consultant charter)
– Liaising directly with relevant stakeholders as the face of Ealing Broadway
Develop, maintain and keep internal teams informed of external relationships with key local stakeholders including the Local Authority and key community groups.
Work in close partnership with the onsite Events, Communications and Marketing teams to co-create and implement a communication plan to illustrate key programme messages and achievements using all available media.
Work with the Estate Director and wider British Land Community team to support delivery of British Land’s Sustainability Action Plans and 2030 strategy in Ealing
Governance, reporting, and monitoring of all community activity.
Budget and consultant/programme management
Requirements
Understanding and experience of working with both corporate organisations, communities and the voluntary sector
Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse and multiple stakeholders
Ability to work strategically and autonomously as well as part of a team
Experience of community engagement & development, partnership development, and project strategy and implementation
Project and event management experience
A familiarity with the borough of Ealing (desirable)
