Wizz Air Ealing Half Marathon Calls for 400 Volunteers to Power West London’s Biggest Race Weekend
Ealing, London — Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th
The Wizz Air Ealing Half Marathon is calling on the community to help deliver its 15th year, with 400 volunteer places still to fill ahead of race weekend on 26–27 September 2026 — and route marshals the most urgent need.
More than 700 volunteers power the event each year — marshalling the route, running water stations, cheering on runners and welcoming families to the Race Village in Walpole Park. Since 2012, the event has raised over £3.5 million for charity, and none of it happens without the people in the hi-vis.
Everyone is welcome — no experience needed
Volunteering is open to absolutely everyone: individuals, families, students, retirees, faith groups, community organisations, running clubs, charities and companies. No experience or fitness is required — just 4–6 hours on race day and a willingness to be part of something special. Full guidance is provided, and Team Leaders support every volunteer on the day.
Roles on Sunday 27 September include route marshals, water station teams, baggage, Race Village marshals, set-up crew and Team Leaders.
Some volunteers even swap their trainers for a hi-vis. Tó B, who has run the Ealing Half Marathon twice, volunteered instead last year:
“I’ve run the EHM twice, but I decided to give it a break and volunteered to help a brilliant team that do amazing work — work you can only see in depth if you are part of the team. Thank you EHM team for the experience.”
Bring a team, make a day of it
Community groups, clubs, charities and businesses are especially encouraged to organise a team. Groups can be stationed together, making it a brilliant team-building day, a Duke of Edinburgh or student volunteering opportunity, or a way for local organisations to be at the heart of Ealing’s biggest day of the year.
Family-friendly roles are also available at the Trailfinders Ealing Mini Mile on Saturday 26 September. Candice W, who volunteered at the Mini Mile, said:
“Thank you for organising such a great event. The Ealing Mini Mile was a really enjoyable day with a fantastic atmosphere, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to volunteer and be part of it.”
Sandra Courtney, Event Director of the Ealing Half Marathon, said:
“Our volunteers ARE the #EalingFeeling. Runners tell us every year that the support on this course is unlike anything else in London — and that comes from the people of Ealing standing on the streets making it happen. Whether you come alone or bring your whole club, congregation or office, we have a role for you and we’d love to have you with us.”
What volunteers receive
Every volunteer who completes their role receives free entry to the 2027 Ealing Half Marathon, plus food and drink on the day, the chance to make new friends, hands-on event experience and the best seat in the house for Ealing’s biggest day of the year.
As returning volunteer Nishamani E. put it: “Thank you for allowing me to volunteer at the Ealing Half Marathon. It was such fun!”
Registration takes two minutes at ealinghalfmarathon.com/volunteer. Groups wanting to organise a team can email info@ealinghalfmarathon.com directly.
