Why a YES vote delivers value.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS FREE PEST CONTROL. Aside from the fact that we carry out 696 pest control visits, through Capital Pest Control for mice & rats every year, or 3480 over 5 years, we also service the alleyways and open spaces that impact non-food businesses, who often suffer the undeserved consequence of circumstances beyond their control. The service is free to any BID levy-paying business that needs an inspection. The value of our delivery is only possible because we dedicate days to servicing multiple outlets, a cost-effective deliverable by the BID that any individual business would be unable to match.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS A FREE ALLOCATION OF RECYCLING BAGS AND REDUCED PRICES. Kerbside waste collection is the only option for many businesses because they lack on-site bin storage, which is not always the most cost-effective method. We aim to maintain our current value allocation with First Mile, at 5,750 free recycling bags per year, or 28,750 over 5 years, saving businesses £12,200 per year at the discounted BID member price. However, without the power of the BID collective purchase discount, the cost to businesses of replacing the free allocation will be £17,250 per year, or £ 86,250 over 5 years.

A YES VOTE KEEPS SHOPLIFTING AT THE TOP OF THE AGENDA. One of our most significant achievements in our current BID term was to bring the scale of shoplifting to the attention of decision-makers. It was easy to understand how businesses became disenchanted with reporting crime, because the “low” value did not elicit a considered appropriate ‘Law and order” response. Read more about the impact of the BID security reporting.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGNS. The recent “Give Away” campaigns delivered value to customers and genuine up-spend for businesses with no cost or risk to their budgets. Our social media continues to grow. We offer businesses the option to collaborate or create original content to display across our platforms and website.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS SEASONAL DISPLAYS. Christmas attraction installations and summer displays enhance the area’s perception and social media chatter, and deliver a sense of happiness.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS ATTRACTIVE DISPLAYS. Flower baskets offer a colourful welcome and define the arrival of summer. If a lamp post is declared safe for the weight of a flower basket (up to 35 kilos when saturated in water), then we aim to dress it. We prefer to put baskets outside businesses, but most do not have solid facias and cannot support the weight. Over 158 baskets, bike planters and wooden tubs are watered weekly, to decorate the BID area from June to September. Three glorious summer months of colour benefitting every business.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS FREE TRAINING FOR BUSINESSES. Free Accredited Training Courses for your business, online or in class, are essential for your staff’s safety and legal compliance. Contact the BID office if you want to discuss in-house options.

A YES VOTE REWARDS YOUR STAFF. Employee of the Year – The perfect opportunity to acknowledge your staff and show the business and broader community you are a business that cares.

A YES VOTE BUILDS A BUSINESS COMMUNITY. Networking, you may not avail of the opportunity to attend, but knowing it is there and contacts are available through the BID office if required could be a game-changer for your business.

A YES VOTE DELIVERS BUSINESS SUPPORT. Help – pure and simple help. Who do you call when a business neighbour is causing a problem, or when the council doesn’t pick up the phone or answer your emails? You call the BID office, we return your calls, answer your emails, and always look to negotiate a solution when the going gets tough
