MAKE IT EALING NEWSLETTER - FEBRUARY 2026

A new Town Centre Police Team

Welcome to the latest Make It Ealing newsletter.

We’re pleased to share that a new Town Centre Police Team is now in place in Ealing Broadway. The team will work alongside the existing Safer Neighbourhood Team to provide additional support to businesses and help address key concerns across the town centre.

Make It Ealing is already working closely with the new team to strengthen communication, improve intelligence sharing and support practical steps that help reduce crime.

From next week, members of the Town Centre Team will be visiting local businesses to introduce themselves, listen to your experiences and ensure you know how to contact them. They are keen to build strong relationships and understand the issues that matter most to you.

Message from Ealing Broadway Town Centre Team:

Hello Ealing Broadway,

We would like to introduce the new Ealing Broadway Town Centre Team, made up of one sergeant and seven police officers, working a mix of early and late shifts.

Our key priorities include tackling:

  • shoplifting
  • robbery
  • anti-social behaviour

To effectively reduce crime in Ealing Broadway, we need the support of businesses. Reporting incidents to the police and sharing information with the team helps us to identify patterns, target offenders and respond more efficiently.

Met Engage is a police platform that allows the public to communicate directly with local officers and share the issues that matter most to them. By registering your business on Met Engage, you’ll gain access to a closed communication group specifically for businesses in Ealing Broadway. This will enable you to work closely with the Town Centre Team and receive up-to-date information. Please note, Met Engage is not for reporting crime.

For reporting incidents and sharing intelligence, please also sign up to ShopSafe, Make It Ealing’s intelligence-sharing platform. This helps ensure information is shared quickly and appropriately.

We will also be introducing regular Shop Watch meetings, bringing businesses and police together to discuss concerns, share updates and agree practical actions. Further details will follow shortly.

We look forward to working closely with you.

The area that the Town Centre Team will cover, focusing on:

  • shoplifting
  • robbery
  • anti-social behaviour.

We are also pleased to share the Town Centre Team Introduction Pack, which has lots of useful information, including a guide on how you should report a crime. Click below for each document:

1. Town Centre Team leaflet
2. Reporting standards
3. Witness statement template for CCTV download

Business Rates 2026
As a reminder, you can find the new rateable value assessment for your business from April 1st 2026, here.

Most businesses will see their business rates increase, and despite the new lower multipliers, their bills will still rise. Some of the increase will be offset by the new Supporting Small Business Relief, which replaces all previous existing discount schemes, without exception.

The council will automatically adjust business rates bills with the relevant Supporting Small Business Relief applicable to your business. Examples of how the Supporting Small Business Relief will work are available here.

What's On
Our What's on page highlights upcoming events and activities taking place across the district. We encourage businesses to check it regularly to stay up to date, explore opportunities to get involved, and promote any events or special offers you have coming up.

A Month of Love

This Valentine’s season, we brought a little extra love to the Broadway with a special photo opportunity installation on the Green. The large red heart and glowing tea lights created a warm, welcoming space for visitors to pause, and capture the moment.

We’re incredibly grateful to all the businesses whose ongoing support helps make initiatives like this possible. It’s through our collective effort that we continue to create a vibrant, inviting destination for residents and visitors alike.

We’re excited about bringing in a new term and look forward to delivering even more opportunities to drive engagement, increase footfall, and support trading across the BID area.

New Business Waste Legislation
Don't forget to ensure your waste management is compliant. Enforcement officers are checking businesses.

Your latest Waste Transfer Notice will be issued this week. Please keep an eye out for it, and ensure you sign and retain a copy for your records, either digitally or in print.

Every business must have a waste transfer notice (WTN) for general waste. The Make It Ealing offer of an allocation of free recycling bags via First Mile will also provide you with a recycling WTN.

It has also come to our attention that businesses are ordering their assumed free allocation of bags from Biffa and invoicing Make It Ealing. If you ordered Biffa bags on the Make It Ealing account, they will not be collected unless the invoice is paid. Biffa has now withdrawn Make It Ealing from its database due to ongoing issues.

Please note that the BID office must authorise free allocations. If a business orders bags directly, they will be responsible for the invoice.

Read waste guidelines here.
